I was starting the 2 mile walk when Comstock drove up and wanted to go along - We made the trip there pretty easily, and the waves were not quite as big as I though they would be, but still worth surfing -
We each snagged a couple of good waves, then, Comstock paddled down closer to the Middle Peak - I was still at the South Peak -
I thought I caught a glimpse of Comstock paddling for the same wave, but slightly farther north -
I made it back out pretty easily, looked for Comstock -
- GONE -
I looked south - by The Road - Comstock was paddling back out - he had got caught inside [he missed the wave that I caught] and he had the infamous "Dragged to beach, non stop, by ONE wave."
Comstock appeared to be a bit shaken, and as he paddle by me [about 20 yards outside of me] he said - as he looked outside - "Oh sh*t, we're all gonna die!"
Well, he was pretty close to making the correct call, except the "all" was limited to just me.
I made it over the first wave, the first of at least four waves in the set.
Comstock paddled over the next wave, I had NO chance of making it over that one -
- SO -
I did what I have been doing, in this situation for the past 20 years or so, I turned fish tail east and headed for shore -
Naturally, the wave didn't break until it was on top of me -
Great fun - one wave, upside down BA, dragged in all the way to the sand - time to go home - tail between my legs -
The last I saw of Comstock, he was paddling toward the Cortes Banks as fast as he could paddle -
These Black*s photos were taken by Paul Oriente today.
Luckily - for me - I stopped by The Shores, and my spirits we uplifted by Amy and Jenn - they allowed me to go to breakfast with them - Yeah Baby!!
I just had to surf uno mas - so after I took a nap, drank 3 gallons of Ensure, and changed my Depends, I went to Wind**Sea for another surf adventure -
BA snaps a secret spot photo before the hostile locals can take the camera away from him -
