The 2005 Edition of The Bill Andrews Electronic Fish Wrapper Is Still Going!
- 13 May 2005 -
Friday morning - Another opportunity for me to document how exciting it is to live and surf in Barrio La Jolla.
I dropped by The Shores - 'cause Jack Cassidy told me Archie's Place was as good as it EVER gets.
Naturally I got there a bit late - 7:00 am - but I saw evidence of the destruction that could happen to a surfboard if one makes just the slightest mistake at Archie's!
'Nado Pat barely made it past the exposed reef at Archie's, however, one of his friends wasn't so lucky -
On take-off, the nose of El Raton's board snagged a tip of the fire coral that lines The Shores - that snag, plus the speed of the waves at Archie's, totaled El Raton's board - the nose was amputated, and the fiber glass was ripped off the bottom - even the fins were lost!
Whew - that hurts!
After work, I made a very low key visit to Point Pickleweed - [please don't compare my Point Pickleweed to Aaron Chang's Pickleweed Point] not much surf at PP, but lots of action anyway.
The locals were ramming the kooks, but the kooks struck back with venom - they were working on their patented, over the falls, fast pitch techniques.
