In my opinion there aren't a lot of true classic surf characters left - Pat's one of them!

- 1 September 2005-

Forget Indo, forget New 'Leans, Ghetto La Jolla, CA had its own tsunami!

The long dormant Volcano, Mt. Soledad, blew its top today - Luckily, for me, I was at Swarms.

I was waiting in line, with hundreds of others, just to get into the parking lot - and cripes, what did my astonished orbs descry??

I took a closer look - I saw wave after wave sweeping from Ghetto LJ Shores towards me -

My Captain, My Captain rescued me - I knew we were gonna be hungry and cold later that day!

I knew exactly the place to go for food and make-shift blankets: The Seal Pond - we could re-allocate resources - seal blubber and seal skins for human use -

But, what happened?

The seals were GONE - humans were using the Seal Pond - children were in the Children's Pool again!

Apparently the violent eruption went un-noticed south of Punta La Jolla -

So I headed to Twang, relieved that to the south and to the north - life was still good!

Even Max was unconcerned about the destruction just a few miles north.
