I guess, well I know, I've had one heck of a good life!

More than one close call, but I guess it just wasn't my turn to face the Grim Reaper or ...

"BA - you're waxing poetic again - get out of your house and do something!"

One of my favorite people in the world, told me last year, that she was on some sort of call list with other friends.

They would regularly check in with each other, making sure that everything was okay, that they had accomplished what they had committed to accomplish the previous day, and just what they were gonna accomplish that day - or something like that - I seem to let my mind wander a bit when I'm listening to attractive women, but I think I remembered the basics of the exercise.

Anyway - back to ME -

My place is as about out of fire danger as possible in San Diego County - 4 blocks east of the ocean in Bird Rock.

We probably get the least amount of offshore winds of anywhere in San Diego - we are sheltered from the Santa Ana's by Mount Soledad - pretty darn safe!

- BUT - the fires burning all over So Cal did make me think a bit about how much unfinished business - DEFERRED MAINTENANCE - I have in my life...

- SO - I put together a list of stuff I gotta finish - not much - and shouldn't take too much time to complete.

I know my kids don't want me to nag them, and I don't want to get nagged by some ex's in my life - so I'm thinking about calling myself to remind me to finish all these "itches I haven't scratched, yet."

I know I have to do these things NOW 'cause if I wait, I'll slide back down into my old ways!

[By the way - one's attempts at being a perfectionist may be a "nicer" definition of procrastination]

If it works for me - it may work for anyone?

I guess I've been spending too much time on watching a grandson come into the world, and a son, and his wife, going to the world.

Anyway- the surf's gonna be good tomorrow, so I'll be back to my much more familiar activities -

Well, Menehunes of all ages, it's that time of year - AGAIN - for more, ad nauseam, BA Disclaimers:

I am not a professional photographer - AND - I am certainly not the "Official WindanSea Surf Club Photographer"

My attempts at multi-tasking [Bullhorn-ing and Photo-ing] usually result in mediocre photos and an occasional ill timed heat launch or early heat end -

The Photo Groms and I try to take as many photos of the competitors and spectators as possible, but sometimes even we have to turn our backs on the action and belly-up to DJ's and Jeff's Bar and Grill, or the Brick House.

Oh well, I've had years practice as the Beach Monster, all I gotta do is spend the same 50 plus years as a Photo Monster.

I am honored that The Club occasionally uses my photos on the official club site: windanseasurfclub.org, and it is a privilege for me that The Club allows me to be one of the "Beast, err, Beach Marshals" for the Menehune Contest.

Once in a while, a "Welcome to Wind**Sea" hand signal eludes my team of sharp eyed censors - I apologize - but I'm pretty sure that your kids see, or have seen, worse things at home.

[I know my kids did, but somehow, some way, they survived and are now making very positive contributions to society, to the IRS, and, most importantly, to MY Social Security fund]

The groms and I took more than 3,000 photos over the 3 days - of the photos I took, many were out of focus, most were either over exposed, or under exposed - I deleted the worst of the worst.

It will take me a couple of days to upload all of the albums.
