Just like a car wreck on the freeway, I gotta stop and gawk -
I don't want any part of The Arena with a strong south swell and a 7 foot high tide!

Start of another boring BA Public Service Announcement:

I just wish the parents wouldn't put their kids at risk in The Arena's late afternoon shorebreak
As far as I'm concerned - the parents who let their kids play in the shorebreak with these high tide conditions and large surf should be put thrown out into the whomp themselves - let's see if the parents can swim in - much less save their kids if the kids got sucked out into the rip.

Oh yeah - I forgot - I ain't NO ****ing lifeguard - save your own kids!

AM Surfing [when Sunset Beach came to The Arena]

Well they did it again - the way cool men, women, boys and girls of WindanSea Surf Club, aided by a support crew of thousands - pulled off - successfully - in a manner that only WSC could do - the Second Annual Butch Van Artsdalen Memorial Paddleboard Competition!

I had to wipe a drop or so of salt water outta my eyes when Mark and his kid Andrew crossed the finish line - little dude and dad paddling together from Big Rock in La Jolla all the way to Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach and back -

Made me think a bit about my own dad who, even though we lived less than 200 yards from the sand at La Jolla Shores, never saw me surf - EVER - he had plenty of opportunities, he just never took the time - oh well - I like to think I did a little better for my own kids.

Most of the photos are uploaded - the balance on Monday morning
