One of my favorite photos of all time is the one which Art Brewer took of BK's bottom turn at Sunset Beach - Riding a Red Fin, I think, and the fin is almost out of the water -

How cool would it have been if I could have EVER done a bottom turn like that - Well, finally, as a 1/2 man, I did a turn where one fin can be seen almost out of the water - of course it's a quad fin board with the outer most fin showing - oh well, better 45 years later than never!

Whew - more than just a bit of surf today -

The Shores worked me over - so that gave me an excuse not to go with Patrick and Rolfy to tackle the lefts at Lava Lamps

BA's Notes -

Kind of ironic that the photo I took of George Coles and the Brud sign [below] was next to another of the hundreds of No-No Signs displayed at la Jolla's beaches.

Brud was a great surfer, kindda the next "Butch" in WindanSea's family tree.

I think that the relationship between the increase in number of surfers in La Jolla, and the increase of rules regarding how to behave at La Jolla's beaches contributed significantly to the cutting short of Brud's surfing career.

Jon Foster has a classic photo [uploading soon] of Brud surfing the left at WindanSea - just may have been one of Brud's last waves.

Brud, thanks for some great memories of the lefts we shared.
