I work less than 10 miles away from my spacious estate in rent controlled Senior Citizen Housing - usual commute time, about 15 minutes each way.BAOn the 16th, 90 minutes office to home - I snapped this photo as I turned on to Genesee -
I suppose "thousands points of light" for George Bush was a good thing, for me, each light in the photo represents a thousand people now living and working in the La Jolla area - breathing my air, clogging the roads, clogging the waves...
[of course it's fine with me that my employer has thousands of employees in the area, it's the other employers who create the problem]
- 1989: President George H.W. Bush’s inaugural address invokes the vision of a "thousand points of light"
- President Bush establishes the Daily Point of Light Award for individuals making a difference.

Today was one of those days when, despite Arctic Global Warming Freeze-On conditions, I was able to capture one of those rare moments when Dawn alerted me that an outside set of rights was approaching the White House.BA
I was in a fairly compromised position while removing my full suit with my arthritic fingers - however - being the person I am, I overcame the pain and grabbed my Canon [camera that is]
There were a few surfers who looked on helplessly as the set of one's lifetime approached the shore.
Only one, because of his skills and experience, was able to ride of of nature's finest diamonds.
Uncle Harold successfully made the death defying drop, navigated around the Fire Coral Reef, and was able to kick out by the Boat Launch -
Whew - and I was there to record history!

Earlier in the year, it did not seem like La Nina was gonna hit - but the Pacific storms have been going ashore way north of here, the water temp is now is the low 50's, Hawaii's had surf, and we get nada - I gotta say, La Nina, welcome to La Jolla, now go home!!BA
My day starts with freezing temps, no surf unless I were to break out the longest of my long boards - AND -

it gets even better...
I'm finally getting used to people cutting me off in the lineup - it's taken almost 60 years for me to reach that point -
BUT - I still cannot accept - even though I'm trying - people with vanity plates, while yakking it up on their cell phones, cutting me off on the road.
This guy is obviously a big shot, maybe on a bait boat, hope he's not a big shot with my employer!!

BA' s Last Blast of BS
is:
"For me, I'd rather be an old 1/2 man still surfing South Wind Shores [this was a great day], the LJ Reefs and Black's, than an old whole man surfing Tourmaline. [No offence to old men and my friends at Tourmo]"
