I figger I'm about 5% complete on the road to book of Dribble and Drivel - BUT - as I am going thru my photos, I found a photo I took more than 20 years ago, and in the photo: THE WHITE HOUSE!BA
For anyone who has spent any time surfing The Shores in the winter, the term The White House Rights will evoke more than a few memories.
I'm not too big on divulging the names of surf spots, it has now become another one of my inane games, but here is the namesake of The White House Rights - No longer a Mexican Style Ranch House / Thorpe's Casa - but the waves, thank God, are still here.AM Photos

Talking to a friend of mine this morning - he says: "BA, did you EVER go right until you started kneeboarding?"BA
My response: "At least twice - at Rights and Lefts!"
Had to go left, of course, at Lefts and Rights.AM Photos

I wonder if Billy Idol had this type of White Wedding in mind?BAAM Photos

The Survivor Tryout Team Guy came back to check the progress of the erstwhile survivors.BA
It only took them 23.5 hours to have fire -
Aided by: Arthur Brown: I am the god of hell fire, and I bring you Fire...
Legal on Survivor?
Doubt it - but they did display tenacity - better stick to surfing!
Maybe there's another fire ring - somewhere - manned by more efficient fire starters?AM Photos
The AM fire ringers were surprised by a talent scout from Survivor -BA
The ringers were duped into believing they had a chance to game the Game - all they had to do was ignite the wood supplied by the scout -
Way too easy? Not really, when the wood is from the Petrified Forest.
[The ringers are surfers not budding reality stars, however 3 of the 4 have survived life threatening events - that's pretty darn good in my book!]
When I left them at 7:00 AM the ringers were determined to make fire.AM Photos

Once in a while - actually - many times - when I'm spinning yarns of how it used to be growing up at The Shores, I reference how good The Boat Launch was in the 50's and early 60's.BA
Today, flights of fantasy became reality!AM Photos 1 | AM Photos 2 | AM Photos 3

Every time I saw the SUPs in the line-up, I kept thinking - those Oarons remind me of...??BA
Got it - Meerkats
"The size of the groups is variable. A group which becomes over-large may routinely have to disperse widely to find enough waves leading to total ruinination for arm paddling surfers."
"Sometimes, local arm paddlers may become hostile towards the Oarons, and as a result, when suddenly needing to run for shelter, members of the Oaron group may choose different escape routes, resulting in the group fissioning."AM Photos
Whew - surfed for 5 hours yesterday - no surf today - time to go thru some old photos and scan a few of Black's...back in time:BA
As I was going thru the photos I started thinking, it's about time to write The Book -
How in the heck did I end up the way I am?
The Road to being ME starts here.
I know that of the 5 people who read this dribble, there's gotta be at least two of you who remember the south wind days at The Shores in the 1950's - 1960's.BA
Well, maybe not the fifties, but the sixties...
1961 or so, we finally got wet suits at The Diving Locker - Beaver Tails flapping in the wind - pit rash so bad you wanted to cry - but we still did it
South winds - as always - waves - as always...but the crowds...
I saw Tom Ortner get dropped in by just about a Shores Record - 5 donks, all tied to their boards - Tommy passed them all - right before they jumped off their boards -
Man, am I waxing nostalgic - but remember way back then - when...
Jumping off your board meant a long cold swim, plus the risk of incurring the wrath of the better surfers -
In the immortal words of Reed Mayne: "Retribution was instant!"AM Photos - taken thru the windshield - too much rain!

Doug Moranville has sent me so many good photos in the past couple of days, I've lost count - and lost a few into CyberSpaceBA
I've found these below, and Doug, I will find the rest!
Oh yeah Catfish, Doug has some really good ones of you, but he won't let me have them - or maybe he did send them to me and they are part of the files that Team LoneStar pried out of my hands - where is the hospital when one needs it?
