August 17, 2004 - Finally - the south drought is over -

As always, we somehow survived our usual, mid-summer, La Jolla, no surf today doldrums.

I'm not sure which month has the most LJ suicides, but if one were a south swell addict, and if one were also dependent upon waves for sanity, this stretch between mid July and mid August would have presented plenty of time for introspection and the contemplation of a long term solution to a short term problem.

Anyway, the south swell slump started to break yesterday evening, and the waves continued thru this morning.

When I arrived at about 5:30 am, I thought that maybe the swell was too south, and I contemplated a speed run to JJ's, but I talked myself out of a 30 minute drive up and an hour and 30 minute drive back.

The morning started well, with the local gang of 10 or so - Forester Tom, UNIX Doug, Don't Hack Jay, Mike Bonner, Jeff, etc.

Naturally, since we were ripping, shredding and lacerating the south swell bombs, we enticed about 50 more participants to join us.

The skill level ranged, as always, from world class to world kook, Choo-Poo to Poo-Poo.

Scot and Lobster Lounge paddled out, the tension level increased by about 500%, ah yes, peace has been restored.

By the way - uno - nothing personal to the Boogers who were chased out of the water, and to the guy I ignored, even though he thought for sure he was one of my Shores buds.

By the way - dos - it ain't gonna do you any good to hide behind me if you think you're gonna become the object of some local hostility.

I don't think I'd protect my kids out there, much less your sorry butts.

Later,

BA
