September 26, 2004 -
Catharsis, Rejection, Moon Taylor Reef (MTR), then The Shores
Saturday didn't start out so well -
I thunk that The Shores might be pretty good, early. It wasn't.
Anyway 1, about 5 pounds of paperwork from a variety of government agencies had escaped my paper shredder, so I took 'em to The Shores to incinerate them [not the Shores Kooks, the papers].
[For me, there's something cathartic about burning papers in The Shores fire rings - it must go back to about 1967, when The Bear encouraged me to grab my draft induction papers and bail-out of the Los Angeles draft classification and physical center.
I did bail, I did make it back to San Diego with my papers - and I did burn them in fire ring at The Shores - didn't do any good, the draft board musta had back-up copies.]
Anyway 2, Patrick came by my bonfire and told me that a girl with whom I had attended LJ High School, and I hadn't seen in about 35 years, told him there was no way in the world she would ever go out with me, and there certainly was no way that she would give me the opportunity to relive some of my latent fantasies - REJECT -
Anyway 3, I've gotten pretty used to the reject button, so I went up to a LJ Reef for some water time - shared good waves with good friends, Felipe, Erica, Tim Bessell, Don't Hack Jay, and Jodie at Moon Taylor Reef - we were the only surfers in the water, and I was accepted [I hope] not rejected by my water buds.
Today, Sunday, The Shores was actually pretty darn good - a might crowded, but fun waves.
I tried to ride Jack Cassidy's waxless, heavy [about 50 pounds], long [about 10'], Steve Shaw surfboard - impossible for me, but the board is a perfect wave riding tool for Jack - he rips!
